Personalization

ThrivaOS doesn’t have to look institutional. Children can personalize their Focused Mode environment with themes, backgrounds, and preferences that make the space feel like their own.

When children have a say in their environment:

  • It feels less like punishment, more like their space
  • They take ownership of the experience
  • Focused Mode becomes something they shaped
  • Small touches make big differences in attitude

Thriva includes curated themes:

ThemeDescription
OceanCalm blues and sea life
SpaceDark mode with stars and planets
ForestGreens and nature imagery
MinimalClean whites and subtle grays
SunsetWarm oranges and purples
NeonBold colors for older kids

Each theme controls:

  • Background image/color

Some children concentrate better with ambient audio:

  • Rain sounds
  • White noise
  • Lo-fi music
  • Nature ambiance

Enable in AppearanceSounds

Customize sounds for:

  • Task reminders
  • Messages received
  • Mode changes approaching
  • Task completion celebration

Children can organize their dashboard:

  • Move widgets around
  • Resize sections
  • Hide elements they don’t use
  • Add quick-access shortcuts
  • Task list position
  • Calendar visibility
  • App shortcuts on home screen
  • Clock style and size

If a child uses multiple devices, personalization can differ:

  • School laptop might be more minimal
  • Home computer can be more personalized
  • Different themes for different contexts

Each device remembers its own settings.

Parents control some boundaries:

  • Themes and colors
  • Background images (with approval option)
  • Widget arrangement
  • Sound preferences
  • Whether custom uploads are allowed
  • Approved theme selection
  • Content filtering on backgrounds
  • Feature visibility

Thriva offers special themes for:

  • Back to school
  • Halloween
  • Winter holidays
  • Spring/Summer
  • Special events

These rotate automatically or can be selected manually.

  • Calming colors (blues, greens)
  • Minimal clutter
  • Nature imagery
  • Soft ambient sounds
  • Brighter colors
  • More visual elements
  • Upbeat subtle audio
  • Dynamic backgrounds

Ask them what helps them focus. Some kids need calm; others need stimulation. There’s no wrong answer.

If personalization gets overwhelming:

  1. Go to Appearance
  2. Click Reset to Default
  3. Start fresh with a clean theme

If one child creates a great setup, parents can:

  1. Save the theme configuration
  2. Apply it to another child’s account
  3. Each child can then customize further
