Glossary

Account
Section titled “Account”Your family’s Thriva account. One account can have multiple children and devices.
AI Assistant
Section titled “AI Assistant”The intelligent helper powered by Claude that answers questions and provides suggestions.
Always Available
Section titled “Always Available”An app or website that is accessible in all modes, including Focused Mode.
Approved Apps
Section titled “Approved Apps”Applications specifically allowed during Focused Mode.
A family member whose device usage is managed through Thriva. Not just young children - teens count too.
Dashboard
Section titled “Dashboard”The main view in Parent Portal showing family status at a glance.
Device
Section titled “Device”A registered Windows PC or Android device running Thriva.
Device Availability Plan
Section titled “Device Availability Plan”The schedule and rules that determine when devices are available for different activities. A collaborative agreement between parents and children.
Focused Mode
Section titled “Focused Mode”A device mode where only educational and approved apps are available. ThrivaOS is active.
Free Time
Section titled “Free Time”A device mode where all apps and games are available without restriction.
The current state of a device: Free Time, Focused Mode, or Quiet Time.
Override
Section titled “Override”A temporary change to the normal schedule. For example, allowing Free Time during normally scheduled Focused Mode.
Parent Portal
Section titled “Parent Portal”The web application at parents.thriva.app where parents manage family settings.
Parent PIN
Section titled “Parent PIN”A numeric code used to verify parent identity for sensitive actions.
Quiet Time
Section titled “Quiet Time”A device mode where the device is fully rested - the user account is logged out.
Registration Code
Section titled “Registration Code”A temporary code used to link a device to your Thriva account during setup.
Rewards
Section titled “Rewards”Benefits earned by completing tasks, such as bonus screen time or points.
Schedule
Section titled “Schedule”A recurring rule that automatically changes device modes at specific times.
The process of updating device settings to match the Parent Portal configuration.
Assignments created by parents that appear in the child’s ThrivaOS dashboard.
ThrivaOS
Section titled “ThrivaOS”The focused environment children see during Focused Mode. Includes tasks, calendar, and approved apps.
Thriva Points
Section titled “Thriva Points”A currency earned by completing tasks, exchangeable for rewards.
Usage Reports
Section titled “Usage Reports”Data showing how time is spent on devices - which apps, for how long, and when.
Website Rules
Section titled “Website Rules”Settings that determine which websites are accessible in each mode.
