Email Notifications & Morning Briefing

Thriva keeps you informed about your children’s device activity through email notifications. You can customize when and how you receive these notifications to match your preferences.

Start your day with a summary of what’s happening across your family’s devices.

The morning briefing email contains:

  • Today’s Schedule - What modes are planned for each child
  • Tasks Due Today - Tasks that need to be completed
  • Pending Actions - Things that need your attention (like reward redemption requests)
  • Yesterday’s Summary - Brief overview of device usage from the previous day
  1. Go to Settings in the Parent Portal
  2. Find the Email Notifications section
  3. Toggle Morning Briefing on
  4. Set your preferred delivery time (in your timezone)

You can choose which types of notifications you receive. Go to SettingsEmail NotificationsCustomize these settings to find four category toggles:

CategoryWhat It Covers
Action RequiredTasks, permission requests, and things that need your response
AlertsDevice offline, permission changes, unusual activity
InfoStatus updates, rule suggestions, general information
AchievementsTask completions, milestones, and positive progress

All categories are enabled by default. Toggle any category off to stop receiving those notifications.

Choose how quickly you want to be notified about device alerts.

FrequencyDescription
ImmediateGet alerts as soon as they’re detected

Daily DigestGet one summary email per day at your chosen time
WeeklyReceive a weekly summary on your chosen day
  1. Go to SettingsEmail Notifications
  2. Click Customize these settings
  3. Select your preferred Alert Frequency
  4. If you chose Daily or Weekly, set your preferred delivery time/day

Thriva can notify you when a device hasn’t checked in for a while. To reduce unnecessary alerts, there’s a grace period before you’re notified.

The grace period helps avoid alerts for temporary disconnections—like when a device briefly loses WiFi or is restarting.

Default: 15 minutes

You can adjust this from 5 to 60 minutes in Settings. A longer grace period means fewer alerts but slower notification of genuine issues.

When a device comes back online after you were notified it went offline, Thriva sends a follow-up “back online” notification so you know everything’s working again.

Want your spouse or partner to receive notifications too? You can add a second email address that receives all the same notifications.

  1. Go to SettingsEmail Notifications
  2. Click Customize these settings
  3. Enter the additional email in Send copies to
  4. Save your changes

Both email addresses will receive:

  • Morning briefings (if enabled)
  • Alert notifications
  • Digest emails

Each alert email includes a simple “Was this helpful?” question with Yes/No buttons. Your feedback helps us improve which alerts are most valuable.

  • Click Yes if the alert was useful information
  • Click No if it felt like noise or wasn’t helpful

This feedback is anonymous and helps us refine alert detection over time.
