Thriva installs a background service that:

  1. Monitors the current mode for each linked child
  2. Enforces the Device Availability Plan automatically
  3. Switches interfaces based on mode:
    • Free Time: Normal Windows desktop
    • Focused Mode: ThrivaOS (fullscreen learning environment)
    • Quiet Time: Logs out and disables the account

Windows handles shared computers well:

  • Each family member has their own Windows user account
  • Parent accounts remain unaffected
  • Each child’s schedule applies to their own login
  • Switching users automatically applies the correct mode

Thriva updates automatically:

  • New versions download in the background
  • Updates install when the computer restarts
  • No manual action required

You can view the current version in the Parent Portal under Device details.
